City of Bakersfield Backyard Chicken Initiative

The purpose of the City of Bakersfield Backyard Chicken Initiative is to change the current City of Bakersfield legislation to allow the keeping of a small number of hens per household. With the growing popularity of urban farming and the benefits it provides, many cities in California have passed ordinances which allow backyard chickens. We believe Bakersfield needs to change its legislation to keep up with the times and to give our community access to the benefits of urban, backyard farming.
