Don't Miss Your Opportunity

Next Wednesday, October 21st at 5:15 is the City Council meeting where the second reading will be presented to the Council to amend the ordinance to allow backyard hens in the R-1 zone. It is important that you show up to make a public comment statement. We already have the majority votes. What is needed is a large presence of supporters, so it remains clear that the majority of Bakersfield citizens are in favor of backyard hens.

If we show up and state our support we will make Bakersfield hen friendly. Make sure to arrive a little early to find parking and fill out the public comment card. You only have to write your name and topic on the card. Put "support backyard hens" for the topic.

The address is 1501 Truxtun Ave, The building is located on the south-east side of the corner of Truxtun and Eye Street.

If you have not spoken yet - this is your last opportunity to be part of something memorable. Participate in a way that you can share with family members for years that you helped to make Bakersfield hen friendly!

One last request: bring two friends with you to speak as well. All that is needed is a statement like, "I support backyard hens. Thank you."

This is the last opportunity and meeting. We either get hens or we do not get hens after this. For everyone that has told me they really appreciate what we are doing, for everyone that has shared that they would like to know how to help, well, this is it, and this is the last opportunity. If we show our support in a respectful manner to our Council Members, and we get the majority vote, then it will be legal to own backyard hens.
