The City Council meeting scheduled for January 6, 2021, at 5:15 p.m. will not be physically open to the general public.
THE ONLY WAY TO SUBMIT A COMMENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THIS MEETING IS AS FOLLOWS:
1. If you wish to make a general public comment not related to a specific agenda item, submit your comment via email to the City Clerk at City_Clerk@bakersfieldcity.us
no later than 1:00 p.m. prior to the Council meeting (Wednesday, January 6th). In the subject line write "Support Backyard Hens".
2. You may also comment by calling (661) 326-3100 and leaving a voicemail of no more than 3 minutes no later than 4:00 p.m. the Tuesday (tomorrow) prior to the Council meeting. Your message must clearly indicate that your comment is a general public comment and needs to be less than three minutes. If your comment meets the foregoing criteria, it will be transcribed as accurately as possible. All comments received for the meeting WILL not be read, but will be provided to the Council and included as part of the permanent public record of the meeting.
When emailing and/or calling be sure to clearly state that you are in favor of backyard hens. Indicate that you expect the City Council to enact the ordinance that was passed. Tell the Council that they need to stand strong against the desperate attempt of a lawsuit.
Finally, be sure to remind the Council Members that what we are asking for is reasonable and fair while it enhances the quality of life experiences for families.
Please take a moment to email and call. Try to get your family members, friends and neighbors to email and call also. If you have contacted Council Members previously, do so again tonight or tomorrow. Every meeting they need to hear from as many of us as possible. This is important!
