Last Friday the agenda for a "Planning and Development Committee" meeting was released. Under "New Business" was this topic, "Committee Discussion and Recommendation Regarding Rezoning Policies". There was no mention of backyard hens, but I wanted to make sure that I was present in case the topic was going to be addressed. The three Council Members that are on this committee are: Bruce Freeman (I live in his Ward (5), and I have not heard from him yet), Bob Smith (We have been in communication several times - Ward 4), and Willie Rivera (I have not had a conversation with him yet. I did send him an email earlier this week - Ward 1). The topic of backyard hens was not brought up as an agenda item, but I was able to introduce myself and share why I was in attendance; support of backyard hens. Assistant City Manager Jacqui Kitchen shared that the plan is to bring the "workshop" to the full council at the August City Council Meeting. After the meeting, Mr. Paul Johnson, Planning Director, (who I have spoken with several times on the phone and through emails) came over and introduced himself to me and shared a brief tentative timeline for moving forward. I appreciated that very much.

Picture Description: I was the first one there and wearing my Father's Day hen mask gift.
