I Wrote Mine This Morning ...

I hope many of you take Michelle’s challenge that she posted in the “City of Bakersfield Backyard Chicken Initiative'' Facebook page the other day. Follow her leadership (she has had two recent editorials printed) and write a “support for backyard hens” editorial to our paper this weekend.

I wrote mine this morning and will be submitting it today.

Once we find out who is running against the sitting City Council Members of Ward 3 and Ward 7 (both sitting Councilmen voted against backyard hens) we will be backing pro backyard hen candidates. The more positives they and other community members hear (read) about our proposal to amend the current R1 Zone ordinance, the better our chances will be with achieving our goal.

I have provided the needed links below to make it as easy as possible for you to show your support for backyard hens with regards to writing an editorial to the paper. It is not difficult. It just takes effort and courage. If you do not take action nothing will change.

Feel free to reach out to me for assistance, encouragement, or editing/proofreading suggestions. I would enjoy hearing your opinions and thoughts. PM me or reach me at thebubh@gmail.com.

Your action is needed. Be part of something historic and part of something that will enhance the quality of life experiences for families of Bakersfield. Write your editorial. Follow Michelle’s example. She cannot be the only one.

Now is an important time for action. November’s election is not that far off. This work needs to be done before and during the election process (not after). What I am sharing and communicating with you will be the foundation for potentially REGAINING the majority vote of elected City Council Members.

Thank you for being a backyard hen supporter.
