Phone Conversation With Councilman Gonzales ...

On Monday of this week I emailed all of the City Council Members that I have not been in communication with yet (Gonzales, Rivera, Parlier, Weir, Freeman). I asked them to reach out to me to discuss the topic of backyard hens. I also asked them to share their position, if they had one, on this topic with me. I shared with them that it was important to me to understand their viewpoints.

Councilman Gonzales responded, and we scheduled a brief phone conversation for today, Wednesday, July 1st. I just got off the phone with him. It was a pleasure talking with him. He came across as a genuine and caring person. I want to thank him on this blog for taking the time to communicate with our group regarding the important topic of backyard hen ownership.

He shared that he is in support of allowing backyard hens. He commented that the details will need to be discussed and worked out. He shared that he has had conversations with residents in his Ward about backyard hens. He stated that he is looking forward to hearing about the details and working towards a way to make it happen when the "workshop" is presented at a future City Council meeting (tentatively in August).
