So, I am stating to receive feedback, support, and questions on the web page. Thank you!

Here is one of those questions: "How many hens will you be asking for in the city ordinance proposal?"

First, let me write briefly about who is working on the draft proposal. There is a group of us that are working hard to consider all sides of proposed ordinance topics. We are a diverse group, so this forces us to have real conversations about best decisions, and not just what an individual may want. Second, the thought is, "Getting something is better than nothing at all" when it comes to legalizing backyard hens. Therefore, many of our discussions focus on what can be passed with least resistance while being fair and practical. This is why sharing your thoughts on Facebook and thebubh.wixsite.com/bubh web page is important. Not only does it provide concrete and factual data regarding the numbers of invested voters on the topic of backyard hens, but it informs the group tasked with shaping the eventual proposed ordinance. Nothing is final yet. We are still in a "draft form", but the discussions are becoming more focused. What seems reasonable and attainable is the following: six (6) hens per household if your lot size is under 15,000 square feet. For every additional 4,000 square feet of lot size after 15,000 square feet one (1) additional hen is permitted, not to exceed 10 in total. I am going to be posting on the web site under "Links and Resources" some information from my research that will assist eventual hen owners on determining how may hens they should get. You definitely want to think about your available space and personal needs, like actual egg consumption, before getting the maxed allowed. When the group commits to a draft ordinance, it will be posted to the web site and shared out on Facebook for feedback. Keep the questions coming - we are going to make this happen!

So true. Those are great memories, earning enough money to purchase onion rings and a chocolate milkshake.

Or if a hen keeper can’t consume all the eggs they could sell the extras to the golfers
