Yellow Hen Friendly Flier at Round Up ...

I passed out four more hen friendly informational fliers today. My total is now nine. I gave two to the neighbors I mentioned in yesterday's blog. I also visited Village Pet and Round Up where I talked with employees about legalizing and supporting backyard hens. I left fliers with them as well. At Round Up there was another flier on the counter, bright yellow, with a message and encouragement to contact city government. The flier urges you to be heard on the topic of backyard hen ownership by contacting City Council.

For interested people, you should also become part of the Facebook site "City of Bakersfield Backyard Chicken Initiative" and visit the web page "Bakersfield Urban Backyard Hens" at thebubh.wixsite.com/bubh . The yellow flier states, "On May 6th, 2020 the City Council referred the matter to a workshop to discuss the possibility of allowing its citizens the opportunity to raise chickens within the city limits."

You need to be motivated NOW. City government is engaging in discussions to possibly legalize hen ownership. Write and call to document your interest and desire for the change. My web site makes it easy with direct links to City Council Members' emails and provides sample emails that you may use.
